To the editor:

It’s not your imagination, the floods that rocked southern, western, and central Wisconsin the past several weeks are getting worse and are occurring more often. The culprit: too much carbon dioxide in our atmosphere has put storms on steroids. Warmer air holds more water and storms have gotten more severe.

The good news is that solutions exist that won’t break the bank and are much less costly than cleaning up from continued destruction. One of the most promising developments is the formation and rapid growth of the bipartisan House of Representatives Climate Solutions Caucus. It includes Wisconsin Congressman Mike Gallagher (R-Green Bay), who also earned 100 percent rating from the National Right to Life committee.

To learn about one of the leading options, check out a short video on “carbon fee and dividend.” It’s revenue-neutral, safeguards people in poverty, protects American jobs and businesses, and also reduces the risk of worsening storms.
