Pray the Rosary daily for world peace Print
Letters to the editor

To the editor:

There was a write-up in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald about the kidnapping and rescue of the mother of Fr. Paul Arinze. I was overjoyed when I heard of her rescue.

Even more awesome was the fact that she distracted herself by praying the Rosary on her fingers all through this frightening ordeal. What a powerful weapon is Mary’s Rosary, and how she shows her care for those who pray her Rosary faithfully!

I would like to remind all Catholics, especially, to pray the Rosary daily for world peace. In 1917, Our Lady of Fatima requested that the pope, in communion with all the bishops of the world, consecrate Russia to her immaculate heart on the same day and at the same hour.

Many have been made to believe this has been done, as each pope has consecrated the world to her by himself. Each time she was pleased, but told Lucia, the only Fatima child alive at the time, that that was not what she requested or in the manner in which it was requested.

Mary predicted all the evils that have taken place in the past century and those taking place today. The only way there will be peace in the world is for the Holy Father to heed her request in the manner in which she requested it. If he does this, there will be peace throughout the world.

Has this been accomplished? Is there peace in our world? The answer to both questions is NO. Had it been done, the world would be at peace today as she promised.

We must pray daily for the Holy Father and the bishops that they will grant Mary’s request, and SOON! We need this more than ever in our day and only she can save us from ourselves.

In 2017, it will be 100 years since Our Lady made this request. Will the world wake up in time?

In the name of our caring Mother,

Virginia Schmitt, Hazel Green
