Freedom of religion includes separation of atheism, state Print
Letters to the editor
Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 -- 1:00 AM

To the editor:

Regarding freedom of religion and prayers at governmental occasions, with humility before God and asking forgiveness for our wrongs, we must calmly and accurately bear witness to the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which includes, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press . . .”

Clearly, the First Amendment Freedom of Religion also includes Separation of Atheism and State.

John Francis Scott, Madison
