Letters to the editor

To the editor:

I’ve just finished the Bishop Morlino’s article in the recent Catholic Herald titled “The beauty of our worship in the liturgy.”

What an excellent and complete definition of beauty! As an artist I often struggle with putting into words the reasons behind my art. And my lack of enthusiasm for all art, as if all art was automatically beautiful, and so should automatically have my enthusiastic support.

The reason we work to share the beauty we see is to garner praise for Him who comes to us in it, and to see them, also, drawn closer to Him through the work He’s graced us with in helping share it.

“Whatever is beautiful is also good and true, and expresses unity and harmony . . . and ennobles our human nature as made in the image and likeness of God.”

“Whatever is beautiful must fix our minds and our hearts on the things above.”

Very nice! Thanks, Bishop Morlino!
