Thanks to generous parishioners, the students at St. John the Evangelist School in Spring Green now have hands-on S.T.R.E.A.M. activities at every grade level. These activities enhance the students’ curriculum in science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and math. These engaging experiences provide opportunities for problem solving, creative thinking, and added conceptual understanding. (Contributed photo)

MADISON -- Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States, including in schools in the Diocese of Madison. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2019 is January 27 to February 2. The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2019 is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”

Schools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses, and other activities for students, families, parishioners, and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to the Church, communities, and the nation.

For more on Catholic Schools Week in the Diocese of Madison, see the article by Superintendent of Catholic Schools Michael Lancaster, Catholic School Week editorial, and the special section in this week’s Catholic Herald.
