MADISON -- The Office of Worship is hosting three workshops for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion this August and September.

According to the Diocese of Madison Norms for the Use of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, each extraordinary minister should attend a diocesan workshop. Those who already have attended one do not need to participate in another diocesan workshop.

These workshops include reflection on the spirituality of the ministry as well as practical material on the reverent manner of distributing Holy Communion. There will be information for those who take Communion to sick and homebound parishioners as well as time for questions and discussion.

The workshops are free, although participants are requested to pre-register to make sure that enough materials are available at each location. A complete list of workshops is available at www.madisondiocese.org/worship

August and September workshops

• Tuesday, Aug. 17, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bishop O'Connor Catholic Pastoral Center in Madison. Register by August 10.
• Wednesday, Sept. 22, 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Sacred Hearts Parish in Sun Prairie. Register by September 15.
• Saturday, Sept. 25, 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Nativity of Mary Parish in Janesville. Register by September 20.
