Poland's 100th Anniversary of Independence is being celebrated in 2018, and October is also Polish American Heritage Month. To celebrate, Madison's Polish Heritage Club will present several events with the display "The Women of Independence." The Battle of Warsaw 1920 movie, followed by a discussion, will be shown on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. at Alicia Ashman Library 733 N. High Point Rd., Madison. The UW-Madison will hold the Creeca Lecture, "World War I, Its Impact, and Those who Made Poland's Rebirth Happen," with Donald Pienkos, on Thursday, Oct. 25, 4 p.m., at the Pyle Center, Rm. 226, 702 Langdon St. A Polish Heritage Club reception will follow All are free and open to the public.
