Parish Leadership Day postponed due to inclement weather

MADISON -- The Diocese of Madison's Parish Leadership Day, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17, at the O'Connor Center, has been postponed due to the inclement weather.
The event will be rescheduled soon.

Global Solidarity Week:

MADISON -- The Diocese of Madison will celebrate Global Solidarity Week from the weekend of February 18 and 19 through the weekend of February 25 and 26.

The observance is spearheaded by the diocesan Office of Justice and Pastoral Outreach. "The goal of this celebration is to open the eyes of people in the Diocese of Madison to our brothers and sisters throughout the whole world," said Susanna Herro, office director.
The Diocese of Madison is involved in the Catholic Relief Service (CRS) Global Solidarity Partnership program with the Diocese of Navrongo-Bolgatanga in northern Ghana. Full story ...

Speaker shares experiences
MCFARLAND/MADISON -- A senior staff member from Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in Ghana will speak in McFarland and Madison during Global Solidarity Week.

Hippolyt Pul will talk about "Building Hope and Faith: Transforming African Communities Affected by the Curse of Poverty." He will speak on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at Christ the King Parish, 5306 Main St., McFarland, and Friday, Feb. 24, at 12:05 p.m. at the Bishop O'Connor Center, 702 S. High Point Rd. (bring your own lunch or purchase lunch for $7 at the door).
Pul has worked with CRS for 15 years, but his first contact with the agency came years earlier. After his father died when Pul was in fourth grade, the family lost its primary bread-winner. Pul received meals in school provided by CRS.
"The salvation for our people in that part of the country was education, so people took education very seriously," said Pul, who is now part of an international network of "alumni" from his area that work to help the next generations of students. Full story ...
