St. Bernard Players present
Music Man

MADISON -- Ticket reservations for St. Bernard Players upcoming production of Meredith Wilson's The Music Man are now being accepted.

The show will be performed on July 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23 with cocktails and dinner beginning at 11 a.m.

Ticket prices for the evening performances are $18 for adults and $13 for children 12 and under. For the Sunday pizza matinee tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for 12 and under.

Advanced reservations are required and can be made by calling 608-249-9256, ext. 228, no later than July 10. The theatre is located at 2438 Atwood Ave. in Madison.

Organ recital series at Sinsinawa

SINSINAWA -- The Summer Organ Concert Recital series continues with the 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, concert in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound. The featured artist will be James Machan of Waukesha. The concert is free and open to the public.

Jim Machan maintains a teaching studio in voice, organ, theory, and composition in Waukesha. He is a graduate of Northwestern University. His choral works are published by Alliance Publications, Inc.

Sopranos Antoniana Cerentio and Kimberly Verbrugt will join Machan for the concert.

Christian concert to benefit victims

INVERNESS, Ill. -- As a fund-raising effort to benefit the victims and survivors of last December's South Asian tsunami, the Christian rock band SONICFLOOd will perform live in an outdoor concert at Holy Family Parish in Inverness on Friday, July 8.

The parish grounds will open to the general public at 5:30 p.m. The music will begin at 7 p.m. when the Christian band Exit East opens the show.

The SONICFLOOd lineup consists of Rick Heil, lead vocal; Grant Norsworthy, bass; Trey Hill and Jordan Jameson, guitars; and Chris Kimnerer, drums. The band has four Top 10 radio hits, including "Cry Holy" and "Shelter."

Advance tickets are on sale for $10 and are available online at www.itickets.com, www.christianhappenings.com, and www.holyfamilyparish.org Day of show tickets will be priced at $15.

Wilders band to perform in Madison

MADISON -- Kansas City-based string band The Wilders will stop at the High Noon Saloon on Friday, July 8, at 9 p.m. as part of their tour through the upper Midwest.

Their take on American music is bluegrass, old-time, honky-tonk, folk, and Americana, and touches on all these areas with style and ease.

Madison's Cork 'n Bottle String Band will open the show.

The High Noon Saloon, is located at 701A E. Washington Ave. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door. The show is for ages 21 and over.

A portion of the proceeds will go to the 2005 Sugar Maple Traditional Music Festival set for July 29 and 30 at Lake Farm Park in Madison. Both events are presented by Four Lakes Traditional Music Collective (FLTMC), a not-for-profit supporter of traditional music and dance.

Patriotic concert

SINSINAWA -- The Annual Patriotic Concert, "God Bless America," at Sinsinawa Mound is set for 2 p.m. Monday, July 4.

The theme is the celebration of the German roots of the Sinsinawa Spokane Sisters. The German flag will be honored through the color guard and the orchestra will enhance the program with Deutschland selections.

Wayne Hansen will conduct the Sinsinawa Strings Orchestra, a 30-piece full orchestra made up of strings, wind, and percussion instruments.

Musicians from the tri-state area participate in the orchestra. The 18-member color guard will present the colors representing countries where the Sinsinawa Dominicans have been or are on mission.

The concert is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, June 28, 7 p.m., WHA (PBS) -- The New Heroes. This new limited series tells the dramatic stories of 14 daring social entrepreneurs who are undaunted by the chronic challenges of poverty, illness, unemployment, violence, and ignorance they see in the world around them.

Wednesday, June 29, 8 p.m., WHA (PBS) -- "Sweet Honey in the Rock: Raise Your Voice." The American Masters series tells the story of the Grammy Award-winning ensemble of six African-American women who have been performing for the past 30 years, raising their voices against injustice.

Thursday, June 30, 2:30 a.m., EWTN (cable) -- Solemn Mass of Sts. Peter and Paul, Vatican Basilica. Blessing and imposition of the palliums to the metropolitan archbishops. Repeats 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Saturday, July 2, 9:30 a.m., WMTV (NBC) -- Time Warp Trio. New action-adventure animated series based on the popular book series by Jon Scieszka and illustrated by Lois Smith, combining humor and stories to ignite an interest in history among kids ages six to 11. The series will also be shown on the Discovery Kids Channel.

Sundays, 1 p.m., Relevant Radio (1240 AM) -- Life Worth Living. With Archbishop Fulton Sheen.

Monday-Friday, 6 a.m., Relevant Radio (1240 AM) -- Morning Air. This morning show has listeners everywhere tuning in for a blend of entertainment, information, and interviews. Morning AirTM talks about life in terms of faith in the workplace; time management; current affairs; movie reviews; realistic looks at media and entertainment. It also includes updates of local and national news, sports highlights, stock reports, and more.

Monday-Friday, 3 p.m., Relevant Radio (1240 AM) -- The Drew Mariani Show. This program aims at opening a daily dialogue with Catholics across America on the topics that matter most.
