Bloomington St. Mary play

BLOOMINGTON -- St. Mary's Parish Players of Bloomington will perform The Shame of Tombstone Friday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, May 9, at 12:30 p.m. in St. Mary School gym.

The play, originally scheduled for March, was postponed because Terry Rekauf (who plays the part of the villain Judge Mortimer Harshly) suffered multiple injuries in a fall in the gym five days before scheduled performances. It was decided to delay the production for several weeks to give his body time to mend and to regain his strength.

All proceeds from the play will go to help St. Mary School. There will also be an "all you can eat" roast beef dinner held in the church dining hall on Sunday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Fiddler on the Roof

STOUGHTON -- St. Ann School's Drama Club, consisting of students from third through sixth grade at St. Ann School, will be presenting the musical Fiddler on the Roof at the Stoughton High School Cafetorium on Friday and Saturday, May 7 and 8, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 9, at 2 p.m.

Set in 1905, Fiddler on the Roof takes place in Anatevka, a small Jewish village in Russia. The story revolves around the dairyman Tevye and his attempts to preserve his family's traditions in the face of a changing world while marrying off his three older daughters.

Times are changing and the daughters want to make their own matches, breaking free of many of the constricting customs required of them by Judaism. Meanwhile, there are dangerous forces at work in Anakevka with Russia on the brink of revolution, threatening to destroy the very life Tevye is trying to preserve.

Tickets for the performances are $6 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and under. Tickets are available at the door or by calling St. Ann School, 608-873-3343.
