Sunday, Feb. 1, 7 p.m., WKOW (ABC) -- Notting Hill (1999). Gauzy romantic comedy in which a Hollywood movie star (Julia Roberts) and a timid London bookseller (Hugh Grant) fall in love but he is too intimidated by her fame to pursue the relationship. As directed by Roger Michell, the contrived crowd-pleaser is long on stunning smiles and sugary sentiment but short on realistic romance. An off-screen sexual encounter, sexual references, occasional profanity, and minimal rough language. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification of the theatrical version was A-III - adults. The Motion Picture Association of America rating was PG-13 - parents are strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.

Sunday, Feb. 1, 8:30 p.m., WYOU (cable) -- Christopher Close-Up: "Simple Things." World-renowned pianist and composer Jim Brickman performs two songs and discusses how every person can identify and nurture their unique creative talents.

Friday, Feb. 6, 7 p.m., UPN (cable) -- The Astronaut's Wife (1999). Thin sci-fi tale in which an astronaut (Johnny Depp) returns from a space mission which somehow went wrong, then his wife (Charlize Theron) becomes pregnant and begins to suspect there is something alien about him and the twins she is carrying. Writer-director Rand Ravich tries to string out the wife's ignorance of the alien connection far too long to sustain interest in the transparent plot and gimmicky conclusion. Some intense violence, explicit sex, an attempted abortion, rough language, and profanity. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification of the theatrical version was O - morally offensive. The Motion Picture Association of America rating was R - restricted.
