Monday, Dec. 1, 7 p.m., WHA (PBS) -- Shackleton's Voyage of Endurance. In 1914, Sir Ernest Shackleton set out with a crew aboard The Endurance with the hope of being the first expedition to cross the Antarctic continent. Packed ice crushed their frail wooden ship and left Shackleton and his men stranded nearly 1,200 miles from civilization. Over the 14 months that followed, the group embarked on a harrowing journey that would end when Shackleton made a 800-mile solo voyage aboard a small rowboat to find help. Amazingly, all men survived.

Monday, Dec. 1, 9 p.m., WHA (PBS) -- Nova: "Everest: The Mystery of Mallory and Irvine." On the morning of June 8, 1924, George Mallory and Andrew Irvine started up the final slopes of Mt. Everest with a good chance of being the first ever to climb the world's tallest mountain. Shortly after midday, they were spotted less than 1,000 feet away from the top. Then clouds rolled in and they were never seen again. This Nova special examines this legendary effort and the enduring mystery of whether they made it to the top.

Friday, Dec. 5, 7 p.m., UPN (cable) -- Lost and Found (1999). Comedy in which complications arise after a restaurant owner (David Spade) infatuated with a French cellist (Sophie Marceau) steals her dog in order to be the hero when he returns it. Directed by Jeff Pollack, the thin premise makes the comic antics seem little more than a stretched-out sitcom. A few crude sexual references, fleeting nudity, much toilet humor, and an instance of profanity. The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification of the theatrical version was A-III - adults. The Motion Picture Association of America rating was PG-13 - parents are strongly cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
