The artists concentrate on animal imagery, each in her own media and style. Sowle's oils on canvas are highly personalized portraits of individual animals. Saturday, Jan. 25, 7 p.m., EWTN (cable) - "Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta." This video presents a detailed history of the Knights of Malta, which was founded during the first Crusade as a hospitaller order to care for the poor and sick who visited the Holy Land. After losing the Holy Land, the Knights withdrew to Cyprus and then to Malta where they are located today. This order operates a worldwide network of relief programs. Repeats 2 a.m. Jan. 28; noon Jan. 30.

Sunday, Jan. 26, 7 a.m., WISC (CBS) - "Mass." Celebrated by Msgr. Thomas Campion, sponsored by Apostolate to the Handicapped.

Sunday, Jan. 26, 12:30 p.m., EWTN (cable) - "In Concert - Joseph Haydn: The Seasons." Repeats 2 a.m. Feb. 1.

Monday, Jan. 27, 7 p.m., A&E (cable) - "The Saudi Royal Family." From the "Biography" series, a look at an important contemporary dynasty in the largest oil-producing country in the world whose leaders have attitudes varying from friendly to hostile toward the United States.

Monday, Jan. 27, 7 p.m., WKOW (ABC) - "Veritas: The Quest." A rebellious teen discovers his aloof dad heads a secret organization devoted to uncovering the truths about history and past civilizations in this series. The fast-paced but muddled narrative seems culled from movie hits, with action scenes reminiscent of the "Indiana Jones" and "Mission Impossible" movies.

Monday, Jan. 27, 8 p.m., WHA (PBS) - "Transcontinental Railroad." The history of the huge cross-country building project and the impact it has had on the United States since its completion in 1869.

Monday, Jan. 27, 9 p.m., WKOW (ABC) - "Miracles." Embarking on fictional investigations of paranormal phenomena is this new drama series, whose first episode, "The Ferguson Syndrome," centers on Paul Callan (Skeet Ulrich), whose job is to investigate reports of miracles for the Catholic Church. Subsequent episodes seem aimed more at fans of "The X Files" than those who enjoy watching reruns of "Touched by an Angel." Directed by Matt Reeves from Richard Hatem's script, the first episode is a disappointing mix of eerie effects and confusing narrative, the result of which holds little promise for the series' future.

Thursday, Jan. 30, 9 p.m., WHA (PBS) - "Failure to Protect: The Taking of Logan Marr." A "Frontline" documentary examining the child foster care system in light of the case of a five-year-old girl found dead in the basement of the home of her foster mom, a respected former caseworker for Maine's Department of Human Services.
